    Review for Dangerous Desires

Reviewer Comments: This story moves apace as the reader is taken on a wild ride through the jungles of Columbia as Madeline and Drake try to escape the cartel, using their knowledge and nerve to get them through. At the same time they discover their passion for each other. The jungle also holds many secrets which the pair need to deal with as each one arises.

Madeline Reynard has been through much in her life. She grew up in the bayous and was abused by her father. She was finally able to leave but left behind her younger sister who finds drugs and becomes a drug mule. Madeline tries to rescue her sister but ends up shooting an influential politician in Columbia, is jailed in an exclusive and isolated jail, then rescued from that jail only to have to work for a cartel that has her sister. Madeline’s specialty is information and she is considered to be a valuable asset to the cartel. When she learns her sister has died, she tries to leave but is taken to the compound. It here that she meets Drake as he, and his organisation, try to rescue her. She is then taken through all life threatening events as they try to escape the ever closing net.

Drake Flynn works for A-Tac, an elite CIA black ops group who, upon receiving a specific signal, have to try and bring Madeline home. Drake does not trust women especially as his last lady tried to kill him. He wants to get the job done and return Madeline to Washington for questioning. During his time with Madeline he finds a woman he can trust and admire.

This is the second story by Ms Davis in this series about a covert black ops team. The reader is provided with information about the team which provides some background but it does not overwhelm Drake and Madeline’s story, as this team connects the books. One element I did like was even though Drake did not trust women he was able to recognise that he was indeed able admit to his attraction to Madeline. He realizes that trust comes in other ways. With the circumstances, on the run for their lives, Madeline and Drake are able to make the connection and make a commitment to each other.

The storyline has certain twists and this only adds to the story and makes it an enjoyable read. I was certainly made to feel that I was with the Madeline and Drake as they tried to escape the cartel and was almost as breathless as the characters on the run. It was an explosive start and this was maintained throughout. Again, a very enjoyable read.
